Getting There

Figueira da Foz is on the west coast of Portugal between Porto and Lisbon. You fly either to Porto or Lisbon with flights to both airports from all of London's airports and also Bristol, Dublin, Manchester using TAP, BA, Ryanair and Easyjet.

Car

Figueira is about a 1.5 hour drive from Porto airport and about 2 hours from Libson airport - both on new motorways. Tolls are about €4 from Porto if you use the new A29 and €10 from Lisbon. You can opt for the non-toll roads which will take you through more towns and villages but also take you longer of course

Train

Arrival at Porto:  Aiport-> Campanha-> Coimbra-B-> Figueira da Foz

Take the metro from the Airport to 'Porto-Campanha' rail station in Porto (first train 6am, runs every 20 mins, last train 00:35,  journey 35 mins costs €1.45). Then take a train to Coimbra-'B' station and change there for the train to Figueira (2 hours).  On the way back, the metro from Campanha starts at 6:10 am and last is at 00:44.

Arrival at Lisbon:  Oriente-> Coimbra-B-> Figueira da Foz

Take a taxi from the Airport to 'Oriente' rail station in Lisbon (about 5 mins). Then take a train to Coimbra-'B' station and change there for the train to Figueira (2.5 hours)

The Rail network in excellent and very cheap with a single from Porto to Figueira around €12 and the railway station in Figueira is about 8 minutes walk, or less than €5 by taxi, from the accommodation.

Bus: There is an extensive bus network in Portugal and a coach service direct from Lisbon to Figueira that takes 3 hours and costs about €10. There is no direct bus however between Porto and Figueira.
